Studying in a language which is not your own is not easy. Many foreign students who start an undergraduate or postgraduate course in the UK find it a real shock when they go to their first lectures and seminars. There is a saying in English 'Forewarned is forearmed'. What does that mean? Well, it means that the more you prepare yourself for something, the better you will be able to meet that challenge. Are you ready for academic study in the UK?
There are many websites aimed at students who are going on to higher education in the UK. I've put links to some of the better ones below:

Take a look at this website from the Open University. Ask yourself 'Am I ready to study in English?'. Work through the exercises to find out.



The University of Southampton has created a very useful set of materials designed to prepare students for academic study in the UK.
